What is a UUID?

UUID stands for Universally Unique Identifier. It is a standardized identifier commonly used to identify records, objects, sessions, resources and other entities in software applications.

A UUID is typically represented as a 36-character string containing hexadecimal characters and hyphens.

UUID Version 4

This generator uses the browser's crypto.randomUUID() API, which generates a random UUID following the UUID Version 4 format.

UUID Version 4 values are generated using random data rather than being derived from a name, timestamp or network address.

Is my UUID data uploaded to a server?

No. UUID generation is performed directly in your browser using the Web Crypto API. The generated UUIDs do not need to be sent to a backend server.
